Oxidation of tartarate to CO2 by H2O2 catalyzed by Co2+
Cobalt(II) ions are added to a solution of potassium sodium tartarate and hydrogen peroxide. The solution turns pink. As the reaction rate increases (evident by the rate of carbon dioxide production), the pink color chnages dark green. When the reaction is complete, the color turns pink again.
